Aldi launches strawberry mint glitter gin for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Aldi is launching a limited edition strawberry mint glitter gin for the Queen’s Jubilee.

The summer drink comes in a bottle with a patriotic red, white and blue glow and will make an appearance in the Infusionist Gin range. The discount retailer warned shoppers that, as with all of its Specialbuys products – “once they’re gone, they’re gone”.

The drink special will hit Aldi shelves on May 16 ahead of the four-day bank holiday weekend from June 2-5 to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, ChronicleLive reports. This gives buyers more than a fortnight to stock up before the celebrations begin.

Aldi said of the special release: “It seems fitting to launch a special jubilant drink in commemoration of the historic anniversary. Encapsulating the taste of a perfect British summer, the new liqueur delivers flavors of jammy British strawberries, with a hint of mint to balance.”

He recommends that the best way to serve gin is a “classic Jubilee G&T” with tonic, an orange garnish and lots of ice. The store dubbed the drink the perfect centerpiece for street and garden parties.

Thousands will undoubtedly be performing across the UK over the long weekend and Aldi says its new gin “pays homage to Britain’s longest serving monarch” with its colorful shimmering design. Aldi also claims the gin’s price of £13.99 for a 70cl bottle makes it £2 cheaper than an alternative M&S version at £16.

Buckingham Palace has its own gin, using botanicals from the Royal Garden which can be purchased from the Royal Collection Shop, and the Queen is said to enjoy a gin and Dubonnet.
