Earlier in his career, chef Dustin Falcon was working at Thomas Keller’s Ad Hoc in Napa Valley when he was tasked with collecting rosemary from a bush out front. He went out with his scissors, cut a nice bouquet, passed it on to someone else, and went on with his day – well, at least for another hour. It was then that one of the cooks went to fry the rosemary and realized that it was actually pine.

“I was supposed to come in and learn really fast and do really, really well. And I got in and got crashed and burned,” Falcon said. Robb Report. “Here I was saying that I wanted to work in one of the top 50 restaurants in the world. And in my first two weeks on the job, it seemed like I didn’t know the difference between herbs.

More from Robb Report

Falcon continued to do well, eventually earning a Michelin star at Japanese steakhouse Niku in San Francisco. And now he’s opening Rosemary & Pine, whose name is a nod to that formative incident at Ad Hoc.

Rosemary & Pin Roasted Gulf Snapper

Roasted Gulf Snapper

Here, instead of the high-end steakhouse fare he’s become known for, Falcon turns to comfort food and the dishes he grew up eating. But he reinterprets these classics with Californian ingredients from the same suppliers he uses at his Michelin-starred restaurant, where he will still oversee the kitchen.

In practice, that means smaller plates like a crispy burrata with fra diavolo sauce, or a “grown-up version of a mozzarella stick,” as Falcon put it. And the starter he’s most excited about is the gulf snapper – which comes from where he fished as a kid – served with a gypsy pepper stew, Romano beans and lobster ravioli. “It’s just a really good balance between where I come from and where I am now,” Falcon said. Rounding out the menu are a number of pastas (tonnarelli and clams with squid ink; cappelletti with honeyed squash) and meat prepared with the same custom dry aging used at Niku.

To complement the food, Michael Hart has created a cocktail menu focused primarily on tequila and gin-based drinks, such as the Garden Party (Junipero gin, sherry fino, watermelon, lemon, Chareau, and elderflower tonic) and the Diner Scene (Espolon tequila reposado, mezcal, charred strawberry, strega, rhubarb and lime). Just as the menu showcases Californian ingredients, the wine list will highlight Californian producers and beers will be sourced primarily from Northern California breweries.

Falcon hopes diners will see how much fun the team is having at Rosemary & Pine and take some of that fun home with them. “I don’t want it to be, Oh, food was life changing. That’s not what I’m trying to do,” he said. “I want you to come in and have a great meal and warm service. And just leave happy and have a total experience of a good time.”

Rosemary & Pine is now open for dinner, with lunch and brunch coming soon.

Starbucks has a habit of releasing the most social media-friendly drinks on the market, it’s no surprise we see them popping up on Instagram and TikTok.

Today, they’re launching a new, limited-edition frozen drink that not only looks great on camera, but also takes inspiration from the trending customizations on TikTok.

The Strawberry Sunset officially launches today and you can get your hands on it until August 25 – it’s really a pretty limited edition.

True to its name, this drink is gorgeous and looks like a sunset in a mug – it’s perfect for your snaps and videos on your social accounts.

Taking a first sip, I mostly just tasted the lemonade and tea used to complement it.

It’s a drink without a straw, but I would recommend taking a straw to better distribute the flavors after taking your photos.

The shadowy nature of the iced tea drink is made up of strawberry sauce, peach syrup, green tea, and lemonade.

I find green tea can get quite bitter once the brewing time takes over five minutes, so I was very happy to have the lemonade to sweeten it.

I’ve actually ordered a drink very similar to this in the past by adding syrups (although I’ve used hibiscus tea, which is naturally caffeine-free and less bitter) so I’m glad to see it. on the menu without having to pay extra for syrups and supplements.

You can find it on @JadaJonesTweets where she’s likely to eagerly chirp about a book she’s read and is often up for a discussion of one of her reviews.

I think it’s best to get it with a straw, although that means you have to drink it pretty quickly before the paper straw starts to unravel.

This can be avoided if you bring a reusable straw.

I really liked this drink and honestly can imagine myself drinking a bit of it over the next couple of weeks, I also think I’ll probably customize something similar once it’s taken off the menu.

You can place an order through the Starbucks app or go to a store to try it for yourself.

Katie Holmes has created a compelling case for strawberry nail polish, wearing it on her fingers AND toes.

A pedicure is a summertime necessity – I mean, it’s the only season when our feet are really exposed. So that our pedicure does not conflict with our manicure, it makes perfect sense to coordinate the two.

However, choosing a color is not really an easy decision. Especially not if it is a shellac or gel treatment, which can last several weeks. While it is not a to have to To wear the same nail polish color on fingernails and toenails, Katie Holmes showed that a consistent color choice can deliver a summer-ready nail polish trend.

While opening a store in Connecticut, she wore strawberry red on her fingernails and toenails. Combined with a white shirt dress, the soft red nail polish was particularly striking. She combined strappy sandals with her look, which also showed off her gorgeous pedicure.

Getty Images

This particular shade of red with a light, warm undertone flatters a tanned summer complexion. However, since red is not too yellowish, it is also very suitable for fair skin. Light strawberry red does not look too bright and is suitable for all occasions (win-win).

In addition, the manicure and pedicure combination is sober but harmonious. It will look especially natural if you do like Katie Holmes and combine strawberry polish with monochrome basics. In any case, we are convinced!

Trying to beat the heat in San Antonio? Maybe your pet wants to sink their teeth into a sweet treat.

Well, your furry beloved is in luck. Andy’s Frozen Custard is delivering the “paw-fect” treat to any four-legged friend on Saturday, May 28.

Pets of Andy’s Frozen Custard customers can pick up a free puppy cone from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at its 17927 West I-10 location. The store held its grand opening earlier this week, marking the chain’s first location in the city of Alamo. The chain has announced plans to open the waterfront custard store in October 2021.

The treat is a puppy-sized scoop of Andy’s traditional freshly made vanilla ice cream, served in a bite-sized cone. Don’t worry though, Andy’s Frozen Custard has a drive-thru so your pooch can enjoy their treat from the back seat.

If you prefer to stay a while, guests can enjoy one of Andy’s many frozen sundaes, mixed cream concretes, cream shakes or malts while their favorite pup enjoys a pup cone. There is even a seasonal product: the strawberry shortcake sundae, fresh daily. You can view the shop menu here.

In the ever-expanding Rim shopping and dining space, Andy’s Frozen Custard is located across from the Bass Pro Shop. The store is locally owned and operated by Joseph and Andrea Shields.

You know how it goes…you can’t start your day without that first cup of coffee.

The National Coffee Association estimates that 70% of people in the United States drink coffee weekly and 62% drink coffee daily. On average, a coffee drinker drinks just over 3 cups a day.

Soon, on the northeast side of Grand Rapids, there will be a new place to stop and grab that first cup!

Scooter’s Coffee will be building a drive-thru in the Plainfield Plaza strip mall parking lot at 3150 Plainfield Avenue NE. Scooter’s has set up cafes in similar environments across the United States.

Plainfield Place

This will be Michigan’s first Scooter’s Coffee. Currently, the Omaha, Nebraska-based company has more than 300 cafes and drive-thru locations nationwide. Scooter’s Coffee was started in 1998 by Don and Linda Eckles in Bellevue, NE.

The signature drink at Scooter’s is The Caramelicious®. Their website says “you can’t go wrong ordering this rich, velvety caramel gem.”

Even though the Grand Rapids Planning Commission approved the plans on February 10, there were some concerns about the business concept. A planning commissioner, Susan Shannon, expressed concern that the only drive-in trade would not create a “gathering place for the neighborhood or even for people getting off the bus or getting on the bus “. The building would only be open to employees. Although she did not vote against the proposal, she felt it was a missed opportunity.

In addition to their coffee drinks – which can be served hot, iced or mixed – Scooter’s will also offer pre-packaged foods like bagels, muffins, sandwiches and wraps.

Here is a short video on Scooter…

Sustaining Dialogues: Two Painters exhibition

The exhibition “Sustaining Dialogues: Two Painters” is on display at the Alabama Center for the Arts (ACA) in Decatur until Thursday, October 28. The exhibit features 20 paintings each by Alabama artists Daniel White and Tony Sturgis. Sturgis exhibits works from last year and White exhibits works from recent years. White’s work in “Sustaining Dialogues: Two Painters” focuses on the abstract portrait. Often times these paintings can serve as studies for larger paintings, but the intimacy of facial expression and abstraction it offers in this setting is intentionally combined with the larger and often monumental works of Sturgis to create a dynamic conversation for the viewer about the abstraction of painting. Although they are different in their approach and styles, the intersection of patterns, colors, and lines brings Sturgis and White’s work closer together for this show. White lives in Northport and Sturgis in Tuscaloosa. The exhibit will also be on display at Decatur’s annual River Clay Fine Arts Festival, October 16-17. The ACA will be open during the festival with special hours on weekends.
