Fife baker wins Scotland’s Bakery Café of the Year award

And the Cupar-based family business, which also has stores in St Andrews and Dundee, picked up a number of other accolades at the industry awards ceremony in Glasgow over the weekend, including the title of best pastry in Scotland for its Danish strawberry.

Other successes include a national bronze award in the free (cookies and cakes) category for its dark chocolate Florentine (gluten-free and vegan); a regional silver award in the bread (yeast) category for its artisanal baguette; and a regional bronze award in the savory category for its spinach roll.

Passing grades for nine Fife food businesses in latest reviews

The Fisher & Donaldson team received their award from Scottish Bakers Ambassador Mich Turner MBE, who said: “With almost 500 products from 57 registered bakers and each product evaluated for appearance, baking quality and taste, Fisher & Donaldson should be very proud of their success.

The Scottish Baker of the Year competition aims to select the best scones, breads, savouries, morning rolls, individual cakes and biscuits, as well as French and Danish pastries and breads, biscuits and cakes without cheese.

Alasdair Smith, of Scottish Bakers, which organizes the competition, said: “Our winners can be justly proud of their achievements.”

The ultimate Scottish Baker of the Year award for 2022/23 has gone to Inverness-based The Three Little Bakers.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
