With its extensive collection of rides and attractions, as well as its place in California history, Knott’s Berry Farm is beloved by many theme park fans. Unfortunately, a shocking incident took place recently involving the derailment of a transport vehicle.

The specific route was the Calico Mine Tower which is described as follows:

This beloved attraction transports passengers aboard ore wagons on a realistic adventure through the dimly lit tunnels of a working gold mine. The winding journey takes passengers through subterranean lakes, waterfalls, caverns filled with thousands of mysterious formations, steam-filled chambers, bubbling pots and geysers.

At several points in the journey, riders find themselves along a stage sixty-five feet deep and ninety feet wide filled with dozens of bustling miners trying to get rich.

As you can see, the roller coaster completely derailed as the guests rode it. The incident happened around 3pm yesterday at the famous Californian amusement park, but luckily no one was injured in the incident.

The Calico Mine Ride, which was Knott’s first major ride, opened in Ghost Town in November 1960 and quickly became recognized as one of the most immersive “dark rides” in the world. The beloved attraction, designed by industry pioneer Bud Hurlbut, transports passengers aboard ore wagons on a realistic adventure through the dimly lit tunnels of a working gold mine. The winding journey takes passengers through subterranean lakes, waterfalls, caverns filled with thousands of mysterious formations, and chambers filled with steaming, bubbling pots and geysers. At several points in the journey, riders find themselves along a stage sixty-five feet deep and ninety feet wide filled with dozens of bustling miners trying to get rich.

It’s not the only incident the popular California theme park has encountered recently with Knott’s Berry Farm closing several hours early after several reported fights and violent encounters earlier this month. In response to this, Knott’s Berry Farm has introduced a companion policy for visitors.
