NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Educational Media Foundation, the parent company of contemporary Christian radio networks K-LOVE and Air1, is officially moving its global headquarters to the community of Berry Farms in southern Franklin.
The company announced its move from California to the Nashville area in March of this year and finally announced its choice of Williamson County as the future home in May at Williamson Inc.’s annual Outlook Williamson conference. EMF announced on Wednesday the closure of an 11-acre property.
“Central Tennessee is the hub of Christian musicians, publishers, filmmakers and industry professionals, making it a great place to call us ‘home’,†said EMF CEO Bill Reeves. “It is extremely important for us to be in a place that shares our values.
“We are delighted to bring our headquarters here. The content that we broadcast from this community will have an impact on people in the United States and around the world.
EMF’s new space will measure 170,000 square feet and include six floors that will house broadcast facilities, podcast and video production studios and a worship center, according to a press release. Construction of the facility is expected to begin in mid-2022.
EMF generates annual revenue of around $ 200 million, according to Reeves.
The purchase of land at Berry Farms is the final step in a three-year, phased process to relocate the company’s original headquarters to Rocklin, California.
“The reason we did this, in part, was because of some of the challenges here in the area with the housing inventory,†Reeves said in May. “For us, we wanted to stage what over a period of two to three years would be easier for the county and easier for us.”
Currently, more than 100 EMF employees work in Franklin in temporary offices. However, 500 employees are expected to be based at the Berry Farms site down the line.
“Berry Farms was designed to create a classic new way of working in a vibrant, modern community, and EMF is a great addition to Berry Farms and the Williamson County culture,†said Phil Fawcett, Managing Partner of Boyle. “(EMF’s) goals align well with Boyle’s mission to be strategic in serving and transforming our community and building long-term value by building lasting relationships and quality development. “
With its new headquarters, EMF will join dozens of other businesses at Berry Farms, which currently occupy over a million square feet of office space. Berry Farms and the surrounding area have also seen expansive residential development in recent years.
