Family tradition of picking strawberries among some farmers
Eckert’s Orchard held its Strawberry Festival where customers can pick their own fresh fruit
VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Strawberry Ffestival at Eckert’s Orchard continued on Sunday with many families turning out for bushels of fresh fruit.
Eckert’s says the strawberries were planted in September and sprouted a little early around early May. The farm says they run classes on certain weeknights on different products you can make with their products, like Freezer Strawberry Jam.
Some families tell us that picking strawberries at Eckert is a family tradition and they look forward to fresh strawberries every year.
“What are we going to do with our strawberries?” Ice!” said the Arbuckle family.
“It’s just a time for families to get out and have fun and disconnect from technology and things that are going on,” says Megan Fields, farm manager. “Just come to the farm and pick something they see where it’s growing, they can meet me, the grower, and they can take home something absolutely delicious.”
The Strawberry Party continues next weekend. For more information on ticket prices and times, visit the website at the link HERE.
