PAYSON, AZ – A creamery in Payson provides treats to wildland firefighters and first responders through donations from community members.
The âfirst responderâ gift card allows firefighters and other first responders to shop at Danzeisen Dairy Payson store for their classic milkshakes or cold beers.
“The firefighters have been so grateful for everything to us, and we’re trying to push it straight away, and say ‘Hey, it’s not us, we’re just here, it’s the community that comes and is so grateful to you. âProtect our neighbors,â said Josh Oakley, manager of the dairy store.
At one point, the gift card balance exceeded $ 1,700.
A recent social media post said firefighters took a milkshake.
âIt was so great meeting all these hard working firefighters last week! They’re coming like crazy! There is currently over $ 1,300 on the First Responder Gift Card and generous people continue to put money into it every day! Send them all to us and we’ll continue to take care of them for you!

In addition to milkshakes, the creamery sells cold brew coffee, fruit juices and different flavors of milk.
There are over 500 firefighters in the Payson area who help fight Backbone Fire near Strawberry and Pine.
On Tuesday, the wildfire spread to more than 40,000 acres and is 64% contained. Residents of Strawberry and Hunt Ranch were allowed to return home after evacuation orders were transferred to SET status over the weekend.
âWe’re just trying to praise our community, we’re like we’re just the middle man here, but it was really really cool being the middle man,â Oakley said.
There are no plans to stop the evergreen gift card.
