What should you order at the bar? Not those drinks!

When you’re starting out as a 21-year-old, it can be difficult to know what to order at a bar. I once ordered a jack-cola and didn’t even drink a soda. I just panicked. After all these fraternal evenings left you no choice for your drinks! You drank what they had. Which is kind of terrifying to think about now. But if you see a bartender rolling his eyes or letting out a big sigh, it’s possible you ordered something he hates to do. Maybe the drink is too complicated or maybe boring. Eat This, Not That spoke to bartenders across the United States to find out which cocktails they hate making the most:

These drinks are:

  • bloody mary
  • pina colada
  • Mojito Ramos
  • Gin Fizz
  • dirty vodka martini
  • Tequila Sunrise
  • Whiskey Sour
  • chocolate martini
  • Espresso coffee drinks
  • a white Russian
  • Fine drinks at a dive bar
  • Guinness ordered last (must be ordered first as you have to pour slowly)

Obviously, if it’s on the menu or in the appropriate place (i.e. a Bloody Mary at a brunch or a Pina Colada at an island resort), then that’s different. Which of these drinks do you order at a bar? How often do you go to bars?

10 fun vodka cocktails to try that aren’t a vodka soda

Happy National Vodka Day! It’s October 4th and today we celebrate the brand of alcohol we know and love today. Generally, if I order a cocktail, I choose something with vodka. And that 9 times out of 10 it will be a vodka soda with a lime. Specifically a Titos soda with a lime. I’m a creature of habit and I know what I like. Part of it is because I just can’t drink sugary drinks like I once could (and still love to). And also for the low-calorie benefits of the drink. But while I’m stuck in my rut and you probably are too, there are so many great vodka cocktails you can try!

So I went to the go-to source for all information — TikTok — to help find other different *fun* vodka cocktails to try. Most of them are advertised as home-made, but almost all of them can also be ordered at your standard bar. Some are sweet, but I kept in mind that not everyone likes that too. I think the first or last of these drinks is what I would choose to try first. Long live National Vodka Day!
